Husband. Father. Health Statistician. Committed to maintaining excellence in the Falls Church City schools. Critical thinker. Reader. Life-long learner. Reluctant bug enthusiast (and father to an unabashed bug enthusiast).

I am the father of two unbelievably energetic boys: a 1st grader at Mt. Daniel and a four year-old at Jessie Thackrey. My wife is a talented data scientist who keeps me on my toes with wide-ranging discussions on various genres of literature and with her insights on relationships.

I grew up in Jackson, TN, just outside of Memphis. My family and I moved to Falls Church 5 years ago when I started my job as a health statistician. Prior to moving to Falls Church I:

  • worked in the public schools in Memphis, TN, implementing mathematics-focused education technology. This required crafting messaging around a common goal and coordinating actions between teachers, principals, and central office staff.

  • worked for a community development corporation in Forest City, Arkansas, on projects related to rural economic development. There, I engaged with various groups of residents to discuss entrepreneurial opportunities.

  • earned my PhD in economics with a focus on health economics.

After watching all the school board meetings since June of 2020, I have a great appreciation for the impact committed school board members can have. The minutiae of setting policy, reviewing budgets, and receiving reports from the superintendent require an attention to detail, an understanding of what goes into an analysis, and a willingness to raise concerns expressed by a multitude of community members. My experiences in economic development, in a large education system, and on a large health survey have allowed me to develop the skills necessary to integrate the concerns of diverse stakeholders to meet a common goal and to ensure that organizational decisions are made efficiently and systematically.

My family and I have put down strong roots in Falls Church City since moving here 5 years ago. As my willingness to fill this past year’s school board vacancies shows, I am deeply committed to ensuring that FCCPS continues to provide an excellent education for the children in this little city. I hope to continue to give to the community by serving as a school board member.
